The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the game board and bear those pieces from the game board faster than your competitor who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a match of Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you can move your pieces is left to the numbers from rolling the dice, and the way you shift your chips are decided on by your overall playing techniques. Players use a few plans in the different parts of a game based on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game technique is to entice all your checkers into your inside board and bear them off as quickly as you could. This strategy concentrates on the pace of advancing your chips with no efforts to hit or stop your competitor's chips. The ideal time to use this plan is when you believe you might be able to move your own checkers faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent's pieces; or 3) the opponent does not employ the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main goal of the blocking plan, by the title, is to stop the competitor's checkers, temporarily, not worrying about moving your pieces quickly. Once you've established the blockage for your competitor's movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other pieces swiftly off the board. You really should also have a good strategy when to withdraw and move the pieces that you used for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when your opposition utilizes the same blocking technique.
