The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the game board and get those pieces off the game board faster than your competitor who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a match of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you will be able to move your chips is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and just how you shift your chips are determined by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use different techniques in the different parts of a game depending on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your checkers into your home board and bear them off as fast as you can. This technique focuses on the speed of moving your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or block your competitor's chips. The ideal scenario to use this strategy is when you think you can move your own pieces quicker than the opposing player does: when 1) you have less pieces on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your opponent's chips; or 3) the opponent does not employ the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary goal of the blocking plan, by its name, is to stop your opponent's pieces, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your pieces quickly. Once you've created the blockage for your competitor's movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other checkers quickly from the board. You really should also have an apparent strategy when to back off and move the checkers that you used for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when your opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
