As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of skill and good luck. The goal is to shift your chips carefully around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move his pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any activity of the opponent by creating a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's pieces will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, your opponent doesn't even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You'll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar - to harm your opponent's positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game technique utilizes seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally utilized when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
