As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to move your chips safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely stop any activity of the opposing player by building a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's checkers will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if she at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. Once you've successfully constructed the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You'll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar - to hurt your competitor's positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game tactic utilizes alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game plan is generally used when you are far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
