The goal of a Backgammon game is to move your chips around the Backgammon board and bear them from the game board quicker than your challenger who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. How far you will be able to move your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you move your checkers are determined by your overall gambling techniques. Enthusiasts use a number of strategies in the different stages of a game depending on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game technique is to entice all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as fast as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of shifting your checkers with no efforts to hit or stop your opponent's checkers. The ideal scenario to use this strategy is when you believe you can move your own pieces a lot faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have less pieces on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor's pieces; or 3) the opponent does not use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary aim of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to block your competitor's pieces, temporarily, while not fretting about moving your pieces quickly. After you've established the blockade for the competitor's movement with a few checkers, you can move your other pieces rapidly from the board. You will need to also have a clear plan when to withdraw and shift the checkers that you utilized for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the opponent uses the same blocking strategy.
