In exceptionally simple terms, there are three fundamental plans employed. You need to be agile enough to switch strategies instantly as the course of the game unfolds.

The Blockade

This is composed of assembling a 6-deep wall of checkers, or at least as thick as you are able to achieve, to barricade in the opponent's checkers that are on your 1-point. This is considered to be the most acceptable procedure at the begining of the match. You can assemble the wall anyplace inbetween your 11-point and your two-point and then shuffle it into your home board as the game continues.

The Blitz

This is comprised of locking your home board as quickly as possible while keeping your opposer on the bar. e.g., if your opponent tosses an early two and moves one checker from your one-point to your 3-point and you then toss a five-five, you are able to play 6/1 6/1 8/3 eight/three. Your opponent is then in big-time calamity seeing that they have two checkers on the bar and you have closed half your inside board!

The Backgame

This course of action is where you have 2 or higher checkers in your competitor's inner board. (An anchor is a position consisting of at a minimum two of your pieces.) It would be played when you are decidedly behind as this action greatly improves your opportunities. The strongest areas for anchor spots are towards your competitor's lower points and either on adjacent points or with a single point separating them. Timing is essential for a powerful backgame: at the end of the day, there's no reason having 2 nice anchors and a solid wall in your own home board if you are then forced to break down this straight away, while your competitor is moving their checkers home, taking into account that you do not have other additional pieces to shift! In this case, it is more tolerable to have pieces on the bar so that you can maintain your position up until your opponent gives you a chance to hit, so it can be an excellent idea to try and get your opposer to hit them in this case!
