As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The goal is to shift your chips safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's chips will either get bumped, or result a battered position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you've successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of the opponent, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You'll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are similar - to harm your competitor's positions with hope to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game plan is generally utilized when you're far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
