As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point eleven in your game board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of your opponent, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you shift your checkers and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar - to hinder your competitor's positions hoping to improve your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game technique uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
