As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move their checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's pieces will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar - to hinder your competitor's positions with hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game tactic utilizes seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
